Grants Presented to Area STEM Programs on behalf of Stern and Exxon Mobil
Last week Stern employees Rebecca Latterel and Trevor Reinesch presented a $500 check to George McGovern Middle School in Sioux Falls. This grant money was presented on behalf of Stern and Exxon Mobil. Each year, Exxon Mobil funds their Educational Alliance program for Branded Wholesalers to nominate and distribute funds to one school in the area per Exxon Mobil branded location. This year alone, the program will donate $2.2M to 4,400 schools across the nation to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Programs. Among these schools are George McGovern Middle School (49er), Freeman Elementary School (Patriot Express East), Whitewood Elementary School (Sonset Station), and Upton Elementary School (Arrow Service).
George McGovern shared they will be using the funds towards a robotics class where students learn to build and program robots using Lego Building Blocks to develop practical solutions to real-world problems.
