Fuel Kleen

Fuel Kleen—also known as Fuel Polishing or Tank Polishing—is a safe and effective way to eliminate unwanted microbes, sediment, and water from your fuel.

Clean, dry fuel and fuel storage ensure product integrity, maintaining the quality and efficiency of your fuel. The Fuel Kleen service eliminates contaminants from fuel without emulsification. That means BETTER FUEL ECONOMY, NO DOWNTIME, HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY and MORE RELIABILITY for your equipment!

How Does It Work?

Usage of a pneumatic system ensures safety during the tank polishing process by eliminating the hazards involved in cleaning volatile low flash point fuels with electric polishing systems.

With a pneumatic fuel pump system, complete control over the flow is possible, enabling the cleaning of both the fuel and fuel storage without causing emulsification, further phase separation, or the risk of injury. This system works by gradually extracting free water, bacteria, and emulsified fuel, ensuring their safe removal.

The fuel undergoes the polishing procedure at a higher flow rate, allowing for the efficient capture and elimination of particulates.

Many filtration systems are only able to separate the phase separated water from your fuel. Fuel Kleen is able to filter out the emulsified water droplets from your fuel, leaving you with superior product integrity and helping to prevent further water contamination

Best Practices for you Storage Tanks

Once you’ve polished your fuel tank here are some best practices to ensure you keep your fuel and fuel storage in optimal condition.

  1. KEEP THE TANK FULL: Whenever possible, keep the fuel storage tank as full as feasible to minimize the airspace inside the tank. This reduces the potential for condensation, which can introduce water into the fuel.
  2. REGULAR INSPECTION: Conduct routine inspections of the fuel storage tank to check for signs of corrosion, leaks, or any structural damage.
  3. MONITOR FUEL QUALITY: Regularly test and monitor the quality of the stored fuel to ensure it meets specifications and remains within acceptable standards.
  4. USE FUEL ADDITIVES: Consider using appropriate fuel additives designed to stabilize fuel and inhibit microbial growth. STERN recommends Polar Complete in winter months and Petro Complete in summer months.
  5. CLEAN THE TANK PERIODICALLY: Schedule periodic cleaning and fuel polishing for the storage tank.
